Social Enterprises: Not just a buzzword

Social Enterprise may seem like just a buzzword but it had real and impactful meaning for those participating.

Read some comments from some current participants:

Today I have come to work at TheMHS. It has given my day purpose and the feeling of contributing.

TAMHSS and MHCC is organising a conference prompting getting people with mental health issues/illness back involved with society. This may be of a work or career nature. My experiences here at the office may lead to something of a greater nature at a later date. New confidences due to the mixing with others will help me improve social or personal endeavours.

After being knocked over by a mental health illness it is important to know we exist in a more caring  society. Also we are now moving in the right direction regarding the re-employment and motivations that contribute in making people feel well again. – Ross

My name is Mai, Pre-Employ has sent me to do training with the Social Enterprise and Mental Health Conference. I am doing four hours a week on a Tuesday afternoon. My position is Administration Assistant and my duties include research on the web, responding to emails with information about the conference and typing of letters and registration forms.

I have been learning programs like Microsoft excel and word. Last week we went for a venue inspection at Evan Jones Theatre in Callan Park.

We also have a meeting every fortnight with a small group and I take the minutes.
